Among the gems are fun facts, suggested itineraries and little things to look for." -- Florida Times Union

Book Description
Headed to Walt Disney World? If so, you'll be delighted with this new full-color guidebook. Filled with hundreds of photographs, well organized and absolutely packed with fun information, it makes a strong case to be, as its cover proclaims, "The Definitive Disney Handbook."

So numerous they seem to spill off the pages, the gorgeous photos alone put this book at the top of the Disney pack. From fireworks and parades to stock cars and surfers, if it's at Disney you see it here. But what really sets this book apart is its coverage of Disney's theme parks, water parks and other entertainment options. Packed with more pure information than probably any other Disney guide ever published, "The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World" offers a thorough description, story line, back story, specifications, tips, Fun Finds and Fun Facts for every Disney attraction. The authors obviously had great access: many Disney designers and engineers are quoted and some photos were taken backstage.

Extra touches are everywhere. Sprinkled throughout the book are features on Disney architecture, ride technology, monorails, swimming pools and much more. There's an animal guide to Disney's Animal Kingdom and a separate section just on Christmas.

The book is designed so it's easy to track down just what you're looking for. The main chapters are color-coded and divided into clearly marked sections. For the theme parks, each attraction is on its own page -- or often, pages. Shopping sections are organized first by category -- apparel, art, books -- and then by store. There's a full index and, on the back page, a phone directory.

From the Back Cover
Walt Disney World gives you a choice of 168 rides and attractions, 81 live performances, 104 recreational activities, 179 places to eat, 197 shops and 29 resorts -- all spread out over 47 square miles. Overwhelming? Not any more. Filled with the most detailed information ever published about Disney World, this full-color guide combines a thorough description of everything Disney has to offer with a cornucopia of advice, insight and tips to help you enjoy it. In other words, it's a handbook on how to have fun. Also included: over 1,000 fun finds and facts, dozens of secrets, quizzes, Hidden Mickeys and over 400 color photos.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Disney Guide   January 5, 2009
I've been to Disney World many times but I never bought a guide book to it until now and I must say I was impressed. What a terrific guide to Disney World this is! My favorite parts of the beautiful, expressive pictures that bring Disney World to life and capture its magic. Based on my experience, I would recommend this to those who are taking their first trip to Disney World and to repeaters like me. Useful. Thoughtful. Sized just right to take with you on your trip.

5 out of 5 stars Tells you if a ride is too scary for little children   January 2, 2009
I bought this book for only one reason: I wanted to know which rides would be too scary for my 4-year-old daughter. It tells you! Right up front! Every ride or show has a "Fear Factor" rating at the top of its section which spells out what aspects of it may frighten kids. Yea! Knowing that one little fact made every day so much better! By the way, I also bought the Unofficial and Birnbaum Disney books, and they don't provide this information, or at least not so clearly. Like an earlier reviewer, I got my copy at Disney.

5 out of 5 stars Thoroughly modern Mickey   December 30, 2008

Julie Neal's Disney World books are always the best. Nothing else compares for up-to-date information presented in an organized and reader-friendly fashion. But good as her earlier books were, this 2009 edition blows them away. I loved the book's look, which makes it easier than ever to find what you're looking for. The pages on rides and show have so many details -- such as the HOUR-BY-HOUR wait times -- we used them constantly, almost like a super park map, on our family's trip to Disney last week (it was Christmas, and man if you ever go at that time of year be prepared for CROWDS!). With a mix of big color images and useful (and also entertaining) information, every single page of this book is a delight to browse through as well as read.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for new and old visitors to WDW!!!   June 19, 2008
This is current and up to date information on the rides at WDW. It is in depth descriptions for those who need to know every last little turn and drop on all the rides, not just the popular ones. Would definitely say everyone should have this whether it's your first or hundredth trip to Disney!!

5 out of 5 stars walt disney world   June 4, 2008
My family is going to Disney next June. I wanted a book that would give me information on everything. Love this book.. it tells you what is a good time to go on a ride, tells you whether it is scary for pre-schoolers. It is an amazing book, plus has so many wonderful pictures.
